Why is it called the “LA” screw? It’s bugging me. Is it an abbreviation that makes sense?

So Low speed Air adjustment?low speed air adjustment for idle.
So Low speed Air adjustment?
Should be a “t” for throttle but LA is the most common and not at all accurate to call it an air adjustmentThe more I think about, most of the saws I have owned have the idle marked with a T. I'm thinking only stihls are marked LA. But like I said, no expert.
I call it the mechanical idle adjustment. That's pretty self-explanatory.Should be a “t” for throttle but LA is the most common and not at all accurate to call it an air adjustment
LA is german for Leerlauf Anschlag meaning idle stop…Why is it called the “LA” screw? It’s bugging me. Is it an abbreviation that makes sense?
Why isn't it accurate, don't the screw open the butterfly up more to let more air in? I know it's a bit confusing.Should be a “t” for throttle but LA is the most common and not at all accurate to call it an air adjustment
That's what the translator says.LA is german for Leerlauf Anschlag meaning idle stop…
Its on page 6 of your manual.......Why is it called the “LA” screw? It’s bugging me. Is it an abbreviation that makes sense?
Very close....Funny language are.
Leerlauf Anschlag = Idle Stop
but singly, according to online translators
Leerlauf = idling
Anschlag = attack
Either way, the effect is the same I guess.
Was er sagt!Very close....
"Leerlauf" literally means "empty run", thus "idle" in English.
"Anschlag" has more than one meaning - the first you've noted (an "attack"), but it's not the right one for this application.... the literal meaning is "hit on", or as we would say "stop against", or just "stop"....
There you have it! An overly long lesson in etymology courtery of the Germans....
"Leerlauf Anschlag" = "Idle Stop" = "LA"
Hope this helps,
