I didn't think much of this until tonight when using my MS180 & MS260 back to back. My 180 has great throttle response and it's bone stock. My 260 was a dissapointing dud when stock,.... all across the powerband. So, I opened the muffler, replaced the fixed jet carb with a fully adj carb and recently modified the choke flap. The muffler mod & carb switch really woke this saw up but, it still has poor throttle response. By that I mean it seems to be slow to pick up the RPM's initially. After they're up, it's great.

Is this just the nature of the MS260 compared to a smaller displacement saw (180 in my case) or does it sound like my carb adjustments are still off?

I have played around a fair bit with the HS & LS screws but have yet to see much improvement. Though I certainally don't consider myself an expert at carb tuning, I have been doing it for some time now (on MotoX bikes, then weedeaters & saws) and I have been following suggestions here and from the Madsen's site.

So, whatcha think guys; carb adjustment or the nature of the saw or,....something else?

Thanks.

What length bars do you run on each saw? If the little on sets to spin a 14" loop of pico and the 026 is hung with a tight loop 3/8 on a 20-24" bar then threse gonna be a difference in accelleration, The low side has to be rich enough to give a shot of fuel to accellerat on until the high side starts feeding thr fire,.

Sedanman,

I'm nearly certain the 180 has a 14" bar & I know my 260 has an 18" bar.

Thanks for the reply.
