Good Morning from HOS (House-O-Saws),

The Lagrange Engine Show will be September 15, 16, and 17.

It will take place at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington, Ohio. The site is on the West side of town, right off of Route 18.

I will be doing exhibition cutting at different times during the day. For the log we should have a @30" diameter piece of Maple. Hopefully a smaller @16" log also.

The main saws that will be run, all 2-man; Dissston DA-211 and DH-120, Mall 11 and a 7, with scratcher chain, Lombard GS, Mac 1225-A and a Titan Blue Streak. These are subject to change depending on how well they are running. Also will be cutting with a Homelite 750 by Dave Neiger (piped), this gets everybodies attention, 090 Stihl and a Lightning. Maybe others as well.

This is a BIG Show, my display is a very small part of it, though usually the only one dedicated to saws. There will be Steam Engines, old tractors and old engines of every description. Also a large Flea Market oriented toward the engines.

So, mark your calenders and come on by and say hello. You will get a chance to see and maybe run a 2-man saw. I have chaps and other safety apparel.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.

I am Ready

Hey Guys,

Got the 30" logs lined up and all the saws running.

Depending on weather should be a GREAT SHOW. Even if it rains, the show will go on.

I did add a few more saws to the line-up. Wright reciprocating and a Wright chain saw.

Larry,
Are you going to be there all three days? My dad and I will be up on Saturday and Sunday. We were up Sunday last year. Great show to attend! Thanks
Derek

This sounds like a fun show. I would love to check out that classic iron doing its stuff. Unfortunatly I am about 1700 miles away. On the same weekend we are having our local lumberjack competition in Cloudcroft, NM. We will be racing an old Mercury 2-man against an old Mall 2-man in an exhibition race. Maybe have a few other classics there.

Hi Derek,

I should be with my display from 8:00AM till about 5:00PM all three days. I may go for a walk occasionally, but should not be gone for too long.

The Flea Market usually has a few things that "I can not live without". But usually I stick pretty close to home base.

The best part of the show is the time that is spent talking with people and trading stories. I feel too many displays are static, nobody to answer questions about what is being shown, and even fewer machines doing anything, but just sitting there. That is why HOS (House-O-Saws) displays are usually set up so we can actually show the saws in action.

I get a lot of questions from children and older folks about the saws. It always makes my day when children show interest and adults remember a time that they actually used or watched these saws in use.

Hey Romeo,

In my experience, unless the Disston is really sick, and all other things are equal, it should out-cut the Mall very handily.

I don't mean to put the Malls down, I always enjoy running them. But the Disstons really make me smile and the crowds really seem to enjoy the twin cylinder "outboard" engine sound. With the Disstons, you have to kick the pile of chips out of the way in able to finish your cuts.

Some of the saws that are making the trip to Wellington have not been used to cut wood in 30 years. I am not sure exactly what to expect. Time will tell!!!!

That sounds like fun but dang! our local tractor and engine show is the same weekend:mad: . I may take the K-100 and the David Bradley
