My neighbor just came over mentioning they had found a large old saw seemingly from the 40s that was under the harley name. i've heard of saws made named Indian.

searches are only bringing up that 24 saw motorbike with the harley transmission.

anyone have any ideas.

will see if i can get more info.. or a pic.

Could be someone back then took an old Harley flathead and made a chainsaw out of it.Heck I saw an old log splitter with a Chevy 307 for power once.
Would certainly like to see some pictures though.

Agree^^, Harley made lots of single cylinder engines so who knows? I Googled around for a while trying to find some refference to a vintage Harley saw to no avail, so it could very well be that it was someone's project as guys have been tinkering with machines since forever.
A pic would be great!!

Dunno about the flathead Harley but that is probably the BEST use for a Chevy 307!

Nope, they make good boat anchors to, but thats about it. :)
Actually I turned a 307 chevy for my 68 pick up into one great motor that lasted me 250000 miles! I used 305 small chamber ho heads and a mild R.V cam and got 20miles to the gallon! Way better than the original
327 and no less power. But now I run a truck with a 307 old's and what a dog! it had a 350 diesel in it originally that was worse but now I think I will just drop my 383 into it and be happy:biggrinbounce2: I have to find a good turbo 400 tranny first though
