I had a large oak removed and the stump was cut relatively flat to the ground. It's irregular shaped but is easily over 3' in diameter. It had a hollow spot in the middle that went down around 6 to 10" which is now collecting standing water and is a breeding ground for misquotes. Any tips to prevent the standing water?
I took a piece of rebar and tried jamming it through the bottom hoping that would let it drain, but I guess there is solid wood underneath and that didn't work. Even if it did it probably would clog over time and I'd have the same issue. I thought of filling it with concrete so it was flush with the top of the stump, but we ruined several chains when dropping this beast as it unknowingly had concrete in the tree from some decades old attempt to fill another void. Fill it with sand?
