I believe the 090 is been out of actual production for about 2-3 years. There were still a few new ones popping up a year ago but they have since disappeared. I would love to find one. John would be the guy to give us the lowdown on when they stopped building them.

As for the largest saw the 090 is probably near the top but I believe there were a few old saws built in the 50's that were larger in displacement. If you tale the time to research the issue on Mike's site you may find the answer. I know there was a huge Homelite that was rumored to be as big if not bigger than the 090. One showed up on ebay about 2-3 years ago but I was too dumb at the time to take down the info on it.

090 was rated at 13hp and 137cc. Biggest modern saw. Older two man saws had more displacement than that

Then there is the Predator, at about 300hp

The 090 is still being sold in Brazil and non emission countries

For the life of me, I don't see how a stock 8 cubic inch motor at 6500 RPM could produce the 10.5 lb. ft. of torque required to make the claimed 13 HP of the 090. Probably just the usual mystery method of torque testing used on most chainsaws. Maybe in this case, they took the output sprocket shaft torque of the smaller displacement, gear drive Contra and multiplied it by the crank RPM. That might do it!

I have seen both ratings used often. Its not that difficult to make 1.5 hp/c.i., but usually a tuned pipe is needed.

"...but usually a tuned pipe is needed."

Unless it happens to be a certain 090 owned by Art Martin.

Steve here... My 090 spins 11000 in the wood. I over wound the vein spring to defeat the governor.

While only 5.5 ci, the Disston DO101 is a huge saw and dwarfs modern saws. It must weigh 40 or 50 lbs.
