Buying a leaf blower for small cleanup jobs. I do not want to spend a ton on it...probably just a hand held...your recommendations are greatly appreciated!

agree with the other posters. Get a stihl hand blower, almost nothing else is worth considering. Most blowers just wont stand up to daily use, and when they do break there are no parts available. A lot of blowers are sealed units and can't even be opened if there were parts available.

For not a lot more, you can get at least the stihl bg55 or 56 (same thing). Parts are available, but you barely need them... they do last years of daily use and have plenty of power. The 55-65-85 are all pretty much the same thing but slightly more powerful as you step up. Most guys round here seem to go with the 65/66. Once you have one, you'll wonder how you ever got by without it. backpacks are great at big $$$, but not that meaningful for clearing off sawdust after removals.

i used bg 85 for years. never gave me any problems. but i got the br600 and cut my cleanup time in half!! seriously consider a backpack

Didn't realize how much time we were wasting until I started using a backpack blower on our tree cleanups.:bang:
Now I'm

I've always used back pack blowers, currently I'm running the largest RedMax. It's definately faster and reliable. Somebody gave me a Stihl BG85 a few years ago, it's ok for blowing sawdust off a driveway and what not, and it fits in a truck box without any problems. However the BG86? is I think around $250 now? you can get a really good back pack blower for $500.

Any Stihl hand held will do the trick. Check Craigslist in your area because you can, not always but you can, find a great deal on a lightly used blower.

Personally I use a BR600 Magnum and it is simply amazing. 201 MPH wind can blow a driveway off in no time. I did not know what I was missing until i got a backpack.

I use back pack blowers all the time for cleanups and other jobs, deffinetly cuts down on time. I use sthil everything except blowers I always have had probs with their blowers. I have been using echos and shindawas for years, in fact I have three that are ten years old and are still kicking.

I have a Stihl hand held blower, but also owned Echos in the past. Echo makes a great reliable, long lasting blower. I also have an Echo backpack, can't think of the model but it is their super light weight one. I have had that blower for over 10 years and it still works great. Hand helds are good for clean up around the chipper etc, but if you need to clean a whole parking lot after trimming or a large lawn, back pack is the way to go, more than twice as fast.

There are tons of leaf blowers that are only less than $100. You should take a look on Black and Decker NSW18, it's light at around 4 lbs only and it's lower than 100 bucks. But I I use Hitachi RB24EAP. It's pretty good and I've been using it for months now without having any problem.

l dont think the bg86 performs any better than the non commercial half price bg56 to tell the truth. They justify the price difference giving you throttle lock and maybe slightly better av??. l'd pocket the savings and get a bg56, lve been using one daily now (commercial use) for over two years and have not had a single issue, not even replaced a plug. Do usual maintenence like cleaning arrestor screen, air filter, good tune ect and you will find them very hard to kill.

Wow Handy Man! you really dug one up from the past! Hey Cody, you still looking for a blower? LOL! Come BBQ with me!

Who knows, man. Anyone can be looking for a blower and if they come across this, they might find it useful. It doesn't have to be just Cody. And it's not like this was posted 1998, it still not far from past you know. I mean no harm.

The big husqvarna backpack moves the most air but the br600 is lighter and more compact on your back and definitely a better built longer lasting blower

False...the Solo backpack blower out does them both! lol. And be very careful with Stihl specs XXXm3 from the end of hose is alot different thanXXXm3 without the hose.

Solo? Like the same solo that makes sprayers and fert spreaders? I was unaware they even made blowers.
