Does anyone else have issues with Husky gas caps leaking.
My 340 and 357 are fine for days then all of a sudden they leak/weep.

They are kept in my cool dry basement. I ordered and installed new Husky OEM "o" rings, they still leak. One fix was taking a spare cap from an E-Tech
141 green cap and putting on the 340. This stopped the leak on that one.
I am temped to order another green cap for the 357. The caps do differ in size. I am still relatively new to the Husky saws, does this happen often to these?

Thanks.

I am not at work right now but I think the vented cap will fit and solve the problem. I think the P/N is 503 8280-01 going from memory.

Thank you!
I will look into that.
I was just down at work for a second. The P/N is 503 8280-04. I have used this on 365's ,372's and 385's. You will have to put a small chamfer on the leading edge with a dremel tool or something similar. 2 minutes work.

Also sometime this year husqvarna switched to new oil and fuel caps.
My new 353 have them. Really nice, much easier to open and I think the seal are more reliable too. It's no o-ring seal now, somewhat more complex.
But maybe you already know this.

I did not know that, thanks.
I will stop by the dealer and see if I can pick up a new style gas cap.

Took some pictures of the nice new caps.
4 first ones are the gas cap. Last one is the oil cap. This still use the flat seal as shown in the picture in the next post...

...flat seal here, though leakage should be minimum here with proper viscocity bar oil. I'll never had leakage with these caps, as I have seen. But with the old caps and seals on a 339 I have often. Specially If the sun or warm weather makes great pressure in the tank the seals just wont hold it.

Husky always improving

Thank you.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Now I know what to look for tomorrow.
Thanks again SawBrian!

Nice to see you again Ben.

I have never over tightened them. I always go light when tightening.
I learned the hard way on an older 029 not to over tighten, especially in
30 degree weather! What a disaster that was!

Thanks SawBrian

I went to the dealer and he agreed with me about the leaking cap.
He gave me a new one that is the same style you pictured.
The new cap is on, no leaks...back in business! :blob2:
