Wasn't my intention to start plugging gear, but: View attachment 211961 available at from Stein USA ( site not been updated), ask for the new climbing bag, not the old sling/crane bag. You hang it via shoulder strap and then position/clip it to your belt. Works well for conventional climbing also, when you don't want you're line getting snagged down below. Plenty other bags out there also, but I just don't get that leg thing, would be like wading through treacle surely!

I concur with Reg, and have had the bag he linked in my hands at TCIA (which I should of bought then) I plan on getting one in the spring. Very well crafted, and co-designed by Reg, who knows a little about crane work! Reg are those Stein pants coming across the pond anytime soon? Could always use a back up to my Pfanner Gladiators!

Get one of those 20.00 rope boss bags they work well have a very large mouth so its easy to feed back in without having to try and hold it open.

The leg rope bags came about from the police / fire rescue side. They are used in the fire dept to keep the victum from grabing your rappel line, and basically belaying you to a stop on your way to rescue them. With a figure 8, the rope would feed right in line with your brake hand to the figure 8. The police use them for swat so there isnt a rope visable if they are doing a rappeling operation.
