I'm currently looking a few bucket trucks for personal use around my property (tree maintenance) and the occasional family project. I've currently have it narrowed down to two trucks.

1) An F700 with a fiberglass altec lift that is regular boom lift.

2) An F450 with a telescoping versalift.

They are both 40' lift trucks but obviously the F450 is half the weight and would be much easier to maintain. My question is there a huge advantage of one lift over the other? Will they both service the same radius and height sense they are the same "working height" lifts?

I appreciate any and all input.

On a different note I have a pretty good deal found on a big 55' altec 600AA lift but it has trouble getting off the cradle and then when it does get up it seems both knuckles try to move at the same time, extra thanks if anyone has an opinion on what could cause that.

How old is each unit? How many hours are on them? I dont know if either of the units are powered by a pony motor or not, but if so that is more maintenance costs to think about. Is the weight of the F700 over the weight of a CDL? Just some things I thought about.

The F450 is quite a bit newer 95 vs 81. Hours unknown, neither run pony mothers both are under 26,000 GVWR.

I guess the main question I was trying to ask does one style of lift have huge advantages over another? ie the telescoping does not provide as much of one type of movement vs the other or the telescoping is 10x less maintenance(just examples I have no clue)

The obvious advantages of the lower maintenance of the 450 vs the 700 I have a pretty good handle on, as well as being able to travel in softer soil conditions.
