I have a lindig drum chipper with a ford 330 v-8 motor, it has an electric hydrlaulic dumpping hopper, it works pretty good on live branches and pine, but on dead stuff it is really a pain in the rear, I have had soooo many dead trees this year that I've only used it a few times this year, I would like to know if anyone has ever put a hydrlaulic auto feed on one.?? I have room on my motor for a hydrlaulic pump, and there's room in front of the drum, I have even thought of buying a mid size chipper and mounting it to the rear of my frame, and selling the rebuilt motor and new clutch, mine is a heavy duty unit and it would worry my to buy a chipper that would not work out, just wondering what you think,

thanks

The question you have is something I have pondered for years, and it has been discussed here (maybe in the commercial forum) before.
The answer to your question acoording to several people is: "No".

A bumblebee is able to fly even though it is not supposed to be able to fly, so I would love to hear from someone who has actually mounted a hydraulic powered infeed roller to a chunk 'n duck chipper.
Could it work? I dunno. I'm not convinced it won't, but I'm not gonna spend a lot of money and effort on a chipper I developed a lasting hatred towards.

lindig

I could buy a smaller chipper weld plates to the frame and mount it on my frame, wich I've seen used ones for about $8,000.00 to $12,000.00, I have to do something soon and I want to keep my dumping chip hopper, I really think that I could have a hydrlaulic feed put on for around $1,000.00 the pump would cost the most unless i want to a salvage yard, I could put a switch on it to make the feeding rollers go fast or slow, fast for fresh and slow for dead, have you ever seen a lindig before.?? it is pretty neat,

mobark

i did find a mobark 290 eagar beaver with a blown motor, I wish I could find a vermeer with hyd feed, but I'm going to try and look at it.??

lindig info

was going to sharpen the cutting knives in my lindig, they look like they are almost flush with my drum, does anyone know how far they are supposed to stick out, and on the bottom plate that is ajustable how close to the knives should it be together, if anyone has a manual or book or any info that would be great,
