I am in MD and I would like to take the ISA test and I have heard it is best to join your local chapter first. Does anyone have any info on that?I e-mailed for info a couple of days ago with no reply yet. Thanks

The midatlantic chapter is very strong. They are a good source of info and support. Good idea to go for the isa cert since your state cert has been trashed by political hacks and has zero credibility.

Head out to Hagerstown the first of October--the macisa conference is always good.

For the extra $$ it is definitely worth joining ISA and your local chapter. Any events that would be in your area would be hosted by the chapter. Just like anything else, membership is what you make of it. If you're interested enough, get involved. Good luck on the exam!!

thanks for the reply's..I was looking at the ISA MAC website where they have the dates for tests posted... I have noticed that some say EXAM and some say certification..what is the difference??I want to take the test ASAP. thanks

They should be the same thing. Just make sure your taking the proper exam. The ISA offers different levels of certification, now. If you want to become a Certified Arborist, make sure that's the exam you're signing up for. There's also the Certified Tree Worker, Municipal Specialist, Utility Specialist, and Board Certified Master Arborist. Odds are, you want the Certified Arborist exam. Good luck!!
