Local small-scale milling connection to the Olympics

Just thought some of you fellow millers might like this story about some local companies' wood contributions to the Games:

There's a nice picture of Mr. Blake with what looks like at least a 40" or 48" Douglas Fir log mounted on his mill in the actual newspaper. Can't find it on the net though. I'll borrow the paper from my folks and scan it maybe.

Hard to beat Doug Fir for versatility.

I love douglas - fir, especially edge grain. As Brad mentioned, local communities, individuals and forest companies from around BC donated timber to make the medal podiums and the trays that the medals that were presented on.
