Hello guys, long time no post. Have any of you guys really , I mean really underbid on a job? I gave a price to remove a mid sized Locast tree (spinney). I think it cost me money. My God. Is it me or is it the tree?

It happens, important thing is to keep your word and suffer through. Most important thing is to learn from these mistakes. That sting should remind you next time you bid.

I have had a few of those. Where you would have saved a lot of time and produced the same effect if you just drove to the customer's house, gave them a check for $200 and then slammed your hand in the truck door.

I did this one job where I bid it at 675.00. And I had somebody else come grind the stump and that cost $425. where I thought maybe 150. And on top of that i had to clean it up take all wood and brush. It took almost 11 hours altogether. I try to make $75 an hour before any expenses not that day and I didnt feel right to ask for more than i bid that guy got a hell of a deal.

Kurtz, how big of a tree was this that they charged you $425 to grind the stump out? At $5.00 / inch that stump is over 7 feet in diameter. I think they ripped you off on that one, but that's just me...

It was 340 inches in total that was to grind total of three stumps about 28 inches in diameter plus the surface roots which I did not figure in when I gave him the price dang it the stump grinder guy charges 1.25 an inch
