Many of the machine operations are done by hand in the sense that it isn't done by CNC. That means the machinist has to chamge fixtures and tooling. Then there is shipping and duty. I don't know how the price compares for Euros.

You'll like the LJ I think. It helps to have a rope that is a little fuzzy. There are some ropes that aren't LJ friendly. You've heard about them already though.

I've been using the lockjack sport now for a couple years and find it problamatic to go back to the other methods of climbing. I have on hand split tails, eye 'n eye tenex cords for the swabish, cord for the VT, split tails etc etc.
But the action of the lockjack is just so much more smooth.
disadvantages I have noticed are it will cinch up tight when climbing over limbs(and you are tied into the same limb) so when you go to stand up you have to loosen the thing. Also I dont like to decend very far with it, it heats up and I have had to replace the clutch on my old LJsport two times.
I bought another LJsport for using with the
fly rope it doesnt seem to slide as well as the one set up for 1/2" line. could be pitch or not dont know.
Rocky you will be in Baltimore right? Greg Good and Sherrill will have the positioner I am sure for sale. That is a great mutation of the LJs! smoother than any micro adjuster I really like them. Also the false crotch I cant seem to do without but you cant set it up from the ground, but the adjustability in lenght more than makes up for that

The Positioner looks great, Greg was showing me it when I went out to pick up a Winch a few weeks ago.

It's on my "to buy" list, right after a tool body for my truck, for wich I'm escrowing funds right now.

What's the estimated lifespan of a LJsport? How much are the repairs Frans mentioned? Would be cool to be knotless.

The replacement clutches are minimal in cost.
What $15-20 I think. I bought my first one 2-3 years ago. It would depend also on your use. They far outlast the climbing ropes.
One thing I noticed about the Positioner is while flipped in I bumped the handle with my elbow and the flip line released. shot me backwards a few feet real sudden.
All the advanced grear has a tuition and requires learning to use.
The LJs need to be cleaned and inspected. But should'nt you do that with all your gear?

I get all my LockJack products through Greg Good.
I would rather buy closer to the source than to give my $$ to re-sellers.
The cost of parts I just dont remember it's been to long

Greg developed the GRCS and is now thr primary improrter for ART and a few other Euro manufactures.

He only sells wholesale, so the pricing info is not open to the public.

BTW, Nate, I've asked around with a few comapnies that carry his stuff and all say they could ship a Cube for "around 60".

Let's wait for the Expo, then you can forego shipping and save a few bucks.

I would go $60 for cube. They are worth it - better than a modified stick.

On wednesday I drove by Freeworker.de and talked to Johannes - helpful guy but he is in Muenchen and I need all the contacts I can get there (thanks Tom) without straining things by asking for discounts.

Is greg just the importer for these things?? People can buy from www.drayer.de (90 euro for a cube!!!!) or www.freeworker.de right?? So you don't know the language, how stupid are you if you don't understand $$$ and a pic???

I have heard raving about the Butterfly and the Austrian, what about the Kolibri?(hummingbird)

That saddle seems solid.;) On wed, the guys(http://www.gruenwerkgarten.de) and gal;) )setting up the demo trees at freeworker seemed comfy in them.

Since March, the Kolibri is the onle saddle that has made me think, "HHmmmmm......????

He only sells wholesale, so the pricing info is not open to the public.

wholesale to who?? Where is the retailer in the equation???Where can we get these toys??? Drop retailer names instead of Good's.???

In an attempt to get back on topic, the Positioner is great. I like the clear model. Cool to watch the rope going through the gear.

Kolibri ---- This pic doesn't do the saddle justice but here is a glance

I would bet so. It was at the convention in Augsburg in March at several booths. I would expect it to pop up at TCI. I got that pick from the www. freeworker.de . Freeworker will not have a booth there but people from freeworker will be attending TCI.

I am itchin' to try it out too. Not sure why I passed the chance when I had it.

When you try the saddle, be sure to let us know your thoughts.

I'm new to the BFly. One of it's best features is the location of the lifeline attachment bridge, which spreads the load to both the waist belt and leg straps. The Kolibri looks as though most weight would be placed on the leg straps.
