Wondering if someone can help me. I have on my logspliter and single stage pump and it moves the boom just fine. Off of the control I plumbed in a second controler to operate my boom to lift logs. Last winter it worked great. Now this fall when I move the controller to raise the boom sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down. I have to stop then move the controler the opposite way and it works. I switched the hoses around and still the same problem. What would cause this? Controller going bad or seals shot in the boom. Please help.

You are using a manual hydraulic valve (you call it a controler) There should be no way that can swap direction on you. If the cylinder seals go bad it can posibly seal some times and not others, resuting in a boom that won't raise or won't stay once it raises. You can pressure test the cylinder with compressed air to verify if the seals are holding or not.
