Log splitter new CV leaks

Replaced the control valve in my mtd splitter. The original stopped working. The new one seems correct and the splitter actually performs much better... Except it now spits fluid out of this notch on the detent cover. The old one did not have this knotch. I assume it's some type of pressure relief but it's making a mess!! Something must be wrong. I posted two screenshots from a video. The tank is filled (not over filled). It spits right before the detent releases the arm to the nuetral position. And then again on the way fwd to the next log.

The notch is a vent . The leakage is a defective O-ring gasket or defect in the O-ring seating area.

Thank you. Is the o ring located within the detent cover?

This was listed as a "nortrac" brand but someone else must make it because I can't find anything online except the link to the buy it the at northern tool site. No spec sheets or parts lists.
