log splitter operating lever rebuild ?

I picked up a swisher splitter that was returned to the store because it leaked fluid from the operating lever. The splitter looks new. Can I get a rebuild kit for the operation lever, can the lever be rebuilt?I think the pump is a 11gpm Haldex. The unit leaks from the front of the unit furthest away from the lever. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe, maybe not, I run a yardmachines and the output shaft seal was leaking, rebuildable, but no rebuild kit for it. Had to go all the way back to an engineer at the manufacture of the pump to get the sizes of seals and o-rings, then had to find a hydraulic warehouse to get the right parts, which were close, but not perfect.

Logsplitter "lever" (valve)

If I understand your message, it's the valve that's leaking. Probably an o-ring in the front of the housing, around the spool. Measure the ID and OD of the seal and you should be able to find a replacement at a local seal house. Or send a private message to me and we'll send you a couple by mail.

Big difference in the spool valve and the pump. If the valve is leaking it is really easy to either fix or replace. Northern tool, which a long time ago was called Northern Hydraulics, has valves cheap. A pump rebuild is going to be pretty pricey depending on the problem and the pump. The forward pump on my tractor died last year and it was over $100 in parts. In either case it is a pretty doable thing.

New pump may be worth the hassle of rebuilding the old one. I think 11gpm pump runs just under $150 at TSC.

This morning it was the pump that was leaking, hence the context of mine and Rednecks reply.

As for the valve, same advice I gave on the pump, might be a bit less hassle to get a new valve verses rebuilding.
