Log Splitter Question

I'm looking into getting a log splitter. Probably a 25 ton, 11 second cycle rate, etc.

There are lots to select from. I like the looks of the Champion brand for around $1200. I suppose they are probably all the same. Any in particular brands to stay away from, like Craftsman, any others?

I found this. Looks like a good enough guide. Mostly Fir and Pine around here, and I cut as big as I can, so I can roll it into my trailer. Says I should be starting my search at 27 tons. Seems like an awful lot. My neighbors get by easily with their 27 ton, even the really big stuff that I like.
