Hi

Got my first climbing kit and i need a bit of help on the LOLER side of things my CS38 course hand outs were the most useful. Everything has to easily and uniquiely identifyable hows the best way to go about this?

I've got a folder that has all the documentation that came with the kit e.g. karbineras certificates. What do i have to write in my LOLER book for pre/post use checks?

If i was to lable my kit in the following way
Harness+mallion rapid - K1-8/05
Karabiners- K1 (no. of karabiners) 8/05
Laynard K1 8/05
Prussic loops K1 (no. of prussic) 8/05
Split tales - Use yales no. Write K1 8/05
Main line - use yales no. 8/05
Chainsaw lanyard - K1 05

Is that going about it right?

Your best off posting Qs like this on our Brits thread Brushey! our ''mates in the states''
have never heard of LOLER.

If i where you i would take down any serial number from the bit of kit your visualy testing or make a discription of what it is and simply write next to it checked and everything ok ,don't make things too complicated for your self .

OR why not talk to the guy who should/will be doing your 6 monthly LOLER checks

My LOLER will get done at a local hire shop who do such things. They will also sharpen chains on their grinder for 8 quid a loop.

sharpenign

you pay £8 to get a chain sharpened. buy a file and DIY it. we could get 32 files for that price (so ive been told as we buy in bulk, 3 years supply at a time)

oh and as for marking your kit, mark it in such a way that makes sense to you.
for my stuff and my rock gear im marking it with tags 4 tags

Nope never yet payed to have a chain sharpened. Although at the end of some days it does seem very tempting.

Hi,

I was marking & updating my kit today ,
My system is:
Textiles start with a 0 so 001, 002 etc
Krabs start with a 1, so 101, 102, 103
Ropes start with a 2 so 201, 202 etc
Pulleys with a 3 you get it?

Each item I own has a page with its history, where it came from, date of first use, Cert of Conf if it has one, serial no., my unique identifier no. and loler date and result. I keep all the pages in a binder with all my receipts.

The key is identification and traceability as much as possible.
Have fun!! :dizzy:
