What do people use for a long bar cover? Around here a length of fire hose is pretty common.

Anyone using anything else?

I use the stihl 2 piece bar cover. You could add additional pieces for even longer bars.

Here in the U.S. Husky sells a one piece that will cover a 28" bar. Longer than that go to the Stihl multi piece unit but it is costly.

Nimrod pack systems out of Cashmere, WA makes some pretty decent sheaths that we use on fire crew. I think they pretty much make them for 32" bars, although they are a small business, so custom designs probably aren't that hard to get them to do. Should be pretty easy to pick out in the picture...

They're some pretty cool looking dudes! Must have been a quiet fire. Over here our guys either are in a rush (while the fire is running) or they look like the germans retreating from stalingrad (after the fire's blacked out) :)

Thanks for the info. I'd seen photos of those Nimrod bags, but I didn't know who made them.

Actually, that was down in Louisiana this fall. No fire, just clearing roads & trails. The nimrod packs suck. Since they're made in the next town over, our crew uses them exclusively. The sheaths are pretty bomber, though. I even have one for my 460.

I used a piece of large heater hose (actually water discharge i think) one time, as it was all i had on hand. Worked pretty good to keep the tip from bangin into stuff, however the piece, just a scrap laying around, was only 12 inches or so on a 20 inch bar. A longer piece might work ok, it sorta has to be squeezed then slid on. Holds itself on rather nicely.

I use the 5 or 10 dollar covers at the huskie dealer.....It's a cover for a chainsaw....If the saw is halfways decent, I would think 5 bucks isn't too much instead of cardboard and duct tape....

I have a couple husky/Jred covers that came with used saws I bought. I like these much better than the 2 piece Stihl cover I have for my 28" bar.
