I was given a 2171 for free Saturday. It's been sitting for an unknown amount of time in a dealers shop with the cylinder off. The big end rod bearing is very sloppy, so I need to put a crank, and bearings/seals in it. I plan on selling the factory p&c since it's in decent shape and going with a big bore p&c.

I'm looking at two kits on ebay. They both contain nearly all the same parts.

One is a NWP kit for $175.

The other is HUZTL for $75.

I have ran NWP p&c for years with no issues. Perfect history for me, except the friend that ran my 372 w/o oil.

Will the Huztl kit provide me years of reliability like the NWP has? I'm looking for replies from those that have some experience with the two.

It is also missing some pieces that will be dealer only (filter base support bar, handle bar bolts, muffler bolts, clutch c clip & air filter). Plan on putting new fuel and impulse lines, and new filters.

I need to search for the ipl.

You may be right there. I may find better performance and reliability out of mildly porting the stock cylinder. I've ran quite a few NWP big bore, but they have always been a replacement for a worn out top end. Throwing a good top end out for NWP may be a mistake.

My two cents, keep the OEM top end. You have zero into the saw so why not put some money into it and make it good. Ask around here for a used crank. SKF 6202c3 bearings are cheap and good.
Put a wanted ad up, I'm positive someone here can sell you all those small parts in one package.
