Glad to have found this site. I am looking for advice on my maple tree, and I haven't been able to get an arborist out. I made a post in the homeowner help forum. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Definitely time to take it down. It's falling apart faster then it can heal and carry on + you have a much better tree close to it I assume that is in the other picture. It well benifit health wise removing the old maple. Might be a good idea to strategically plant some new trees to fill in as the mature trees need to be taken out in time.
