Hello, and this is the first time that I’ve come on.
I’m just seeing if I can get anyone’s advise on what you may think the best machine out of the three and why?
I’m looking at buying one of them and don’t know anyone who owns them.
The Carlton SP7015TRX 60hp Track
The Vermeer SC60TX 60hp Track
The Rayco Super RG50 66hp Wheel
I’m interested in what some my say about the track units?

Thanks Aerial

Welcome to AS.com Aerial, sorry but I can't help you with your stump grinder question...I rent/lease for my needs. Hang around, others here will eventually chime in to offer their opinions. Again, welcome. HC

Why not a monster backhoe and a tub grinder (both rented or subcontracted) for the 280 stump job. I can understand that the job may pay for the stump grinder outright, and I otherwise have no clue, really, but I'm just curious. I've seen backhoes pop stumps out in mere moments. It depends a lot, I suppose, on stump diameter and the terrain you're working on.

I'm using a vermeer 352 34hp turbo diesel machine, this machine suits my needs i really like vermeer stump grinders ,i like vermeers back-up service as well as the product

Tracks are good for land/site clearence but there not suited at all to back yard work, this is where wheeled grinders are at there best

We did a demo with the Rayco today on 4 stumps 3.5' across and one 6' across and it was not to bad. The ground at 6'' was a little wet going down to 15''. I found that we had to move some of the dirt to finsh the job well. But over all it seem to perform pretty well.

I still would like to have any feed back on the Vermeer & Carlton units.

We have used backhoe's for some job sites but most of our work is in someones back yard.

I dont like tracked machines due to them tearing up the grass, its an unavoidable drawback to them. (Can be prevented with Alturna Mats or plywood).

I have the RG50 and RG85 and we love them both, I say go for the super RG50, if you can swing it, that 90hp RG90 looks mighty nice.

I have a 600 stump job coming up, it should take 2 or 3 days with the RG85 grinding, the average stump diameter is around 20" with a height of under6".

Rayco makes an excellant machine....Vermeer can't match the Rayco Product...Carlton has some design issues and service issues. I had a Carlton and was not a big fan of it after I got the Rayco. We did 50 18" stumps today in about 3 hours. Easy to move and great power. Would like to move up to the super rg50 or the rg85 or even to the big hog....i can run circles around a backhoe with my machine...

I took out a 3 ft. stump a few years ago with my Rayco Jr. The building contractor thought he could take it out with his Case 580 backhoe. He was mistaken. With a stump grinder you also have no root ball and stump to dispose of.

i too use the rayco rg50....cant go wrong with it i dont think. i also dont like the track machines for the reason stated above about teating up grass.
