I am kinda looking around for a makita or dolmar. In the 6400-7900 family. Prefer if it needs work and be a pho. Trying to keep the cost as low as I can. I tapped into my saw budget pretty good the last few weeks.
Not sure I really need one, but it would go nice between my 268 and my 088.
Not in a rush to find one, but if someone has one they want to part with. Or knows of something that will be available in the future please let me know.

Thank you. And a Merry Christmas to everyone!

Not to sound cheap but I would like to stay close to $100-200. If it is a pull the cord and go it is probably out of my range.
I have my name and number in at a couple of home depot stores, along with a few local shops. From what they tell me is that they don't see many, but when they get them they usually range from junk come get it out of here to a little beat up for $350-500 depending on model.

Again I am in no rush just trying to get a feel for what is out there. And if the right saw comes along I will give it a good home.

Keep in mind that if it's a 6400 then it's not between your 268 and 088, and to upgrade t0 79cc you'll be putting another couple hundred into it. Then it might be close enough in weight to the 268 that you'll find yourself leaving the 268 on the shelf.

I do really like the 268 and I am in the process of adding a heated handle and grip to it.
Whatever I came across would probably get a 7900 top end.
I know it and the 268 are going to be close in weight, but it is more for variety and choice for different conditions and circumstances.

Looked at one today there. This is where I bought my 371xp. It is a 6421 and was a Home Depot saw in its youth. Give them a call and tell him Troy sent you. I didn't have time to check it out 100%, but it pulled over well, and looked in good shape. I will be back down there Thur, and can look at it again if you want. I am located in Bloomington, and maybe we can work out meeting somewhere, if you purchase it

I don't know how I didn't see this sooner. Thank you for the info. Someone might have already snatched it up, but I will call them today. Thank you

I will be back down there during the upcoming week. Let me know if you are working on a deal and can look it over better and send you some pictures. I can also bring it up to the bloomington area for you

Never have seen a 7300, but it is from the same family. If it is still available let me know. I am still looking.
And just for a side note. I just picked up a 372xp parts saw. It has been robbed pretty good, but if I came across a donor with a bad case or crank. I would build it instead.

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.
