Hi all,
I'm hoping someone out there has a good piston/cylinder assembly for a Stihl 045AVE Super that they could part with. This would be the 54mm bore. Part# for the entire assembly is 1115 020 1205. I know there are a couple cylinders on Ebay right now, but none of the sellers will show the inside of their cylinders or answer my requests for better pics and more details. Been trying for a few weeks now. My local dealer can actually get an unobtainium brand new assembly, but the $257 ticket is more than a good running 045 Super goes for. The piston and cylinder out of my saw are fairly roached. Rings broke, piston crashed into one side of the cylinder and wore a centimeter wide trench several thou past the nikasil taking the cylinder way out of round. Piston is junk. Once again the cost of a new piston and refurbing the cylinder will be more than another saw.
Sure would be nice to get this saw back online for firewood cutting. I'm running the daylights out of my MS250 just to keep going so I don't get too far behind. Does the job even through the 20"+ red/white oak, maple, and yellow birch logs I've been bucking. It is a little slower not being able to cut all the way through in one cut, and I have to roll some pretty hefty logs to finish the cuts. This sort of rubs my woodcutting philosophy the wrong way (since I do all the work alone)...Its lots of hard work, so don't make it any harder or more work! I've only got about 2 or 3 cord bucked and split, and still have 6 or 7 more to go. Cutting tops and such out of an area that was logged a few years ago so most of the wood is hardening up and far from green anymore. Lots of wood that tests under 20% moisture right out of the bush!
I miss my big 'ol saw! Any help out there?
Thanks in advance for everyones time!
