Just curious how well the loopy slings work.. I'm used to using three strand rope to use as a lowering device for SMALL TO MEDIUM size limbs.. Thinking about ordering one.. Any suggestions to which one is a good all around?

Order a dead eye sling and tie knots (cow hitch and timber hitch) for both your block and lowering device. The loopie sling can be quite frustrating if you have to move it around a fair bit. The whoopie slings work decently for port-a-wraps, but I still prefer tying knots with a dead eye sling.

I use loopies alot, they are good tool to have, and they work for various things. I mainly use them for blocks and pulleys.

Thanks for the input.. Sounds like the dead eyes are more maneuverable... I have a block, but it's huge.. Lol.. Going to order some new rigging gear.. Get rid of the ancient stuff I have..

Loopies work great when blocking down the spar. If you have to move it around the crown, it's a pain because you have to take the rope out every time. With a dead eye I just untie it and hook to my saddle with the rope still in it and re-tie.

For small to medium weight limbs, I just girth hitch a tubular sling and attach my pulley with a biner to the sling.
