Maasdam rope puller

Anyone ever use any other kind of rope other than 3 strand in the maasdam rope puller? Will 16 strand work?

I have used the puller on 16 strand...have never used it with the 3.

The puller does fine in most situations, but I have noticed when there is extreme tension on the device, the rope tends to flatten on the wheel and sometimes it will slip a bit...

Perhaps I should not have used the term flatten.....stretching would be more like it, thus the rope cannot grip the wheel service as it should.

I've never used 16, but I bet most would work. I use Arborplex 12std quite a bit and 3 strand. I have also used double braid but it does not work so well

According to Maasdam,( I called them regarding this question ) 16 strand will have the tendency to slide the cover over the core. I've used 12 strand with no problems.
