My neighbor has an old mac 99 that he needs a carburator diaphram for. Does anyone know where I could find parts for this saw?

Carb repair kit:

From what I can see from Mike Acres site, there appear to be no major or minor repair kits offered for the Mac carburetors. Hopefully, someone here can jump in with some advice. You may end up like me, making replacement diaphragms for that old carb, like I'm doing for my old Disston. Good luck on your search. Lewis.

Try mobilemower.net

I needed a kit for a Mac 130 which has a Zama carb. I got a list of carb numbers from rowenacarbs.co.uk and checked the body of the carb for a match. Putting that into a search engine gave the above address which lists a fair few kits with pictures.

While on the subject, this Mac 130 has been messed with and when I pulled off the muffler, I found it had a loose piece inside. This has a plate on it with a small threaded hole in it. Am I missing a piece that it screws to? If not, does anyone have a useable muffler that they would post to the UK? I could also do with the plastic D handle for the chain brake and maybe a better clutch.

Anyone know the gap setting for the magneto on one of these?

McCulloch 99

McCulloch 99 ;It probabely won't help, but the number on the diaphragm is 18199B.While I'm at it the specs are: built 1954 to 1963 weight 56 lbs. 2.5"bore,2" stroke [9.9 cu in].A person may want to classify this as a large saw.You may want to try Randy Duncan at Duncans engine service[sells on e-bay],or Fayetteville equipment repair,Fayetteville N.Y.[on the net.]To the gent asking for the air gap of a Mac. 130,it is .008 to .012" or .203to .304 mm.Al

On the Mac 130 that little screw hole you're seeing is for a spark arrestor screen.

They used 2 carbs on those saws, Walbro MDC and Zama M7-M1
I have both carbs here, actualy the body of an MDC and an M7-M1 on an eager beaver 2.0 I'm working on.

Thanks - would fitting a screen hold the innards in position, or is this muffler broken?

Its not a really necessary part, not having it there wont hurt anything to my knowledge. I dont think the screw held anything besides the screen in place.

I had a MAC 130 when I was like 12 or so, them saws have some serious compression.
