OK Guys, I need your help again. Got a mac 10-10 super at the flea market this morning for $10 Darn thing looks like a new one. Prob. less than 20 hours on it (arent mac's only good for 50 anyway ?? HA-HA) Still has the orig. Mac (Windsor) 16" hard nose bar & chain.

It has 120# compression & good spark. I know it will ned a carb kit & I'm not even gonna try to start it b-4 I go through the carb.

Anyway, I could not find the muffler, as I was wanting to inspect the piston & rings. Finally found it on the bottom. Actually the muffler is missing. There does not seem to be much room in there to fit one ?? The mounting boss & threads are still there, but no muffler.

I looked in my intertec book & it did not show a muffler on the 10-10 series ??

Is it suposed to have one ?? If so, does anyone have one they could sell, or trade me.

Oviously, I am totaly ignorant of macs, as this is my first one. (I am an old "Homie" guy)

Any help, comments & advise would be greatly apreciated.

Mike

Excuse the poor picture, my camera fogged up on me when i took it outside to take the pic. I will post a better one when the humidity goes down.

If it helps: the exaust port is on the bottom of the cylinder not the side. there also is no chain brake.

Anyone know how old it is ??

Thanks, i looked on there also. This one does not look like it is 10 years old (neverless 30 something) It is all yellow. I will go check the serial #

Is this worth keeping & using in your opinion ??

I'm not a pro, just a weekend warrior/firewood cutter/bargainhunter.

It won't need anything but a carb kit. It even has a new rim sprocket on it.

10-10

It will cut all the wood you need. This was my first saw.
Do the carb, check the gaskets between the carb housing and the cylinder. I have replaced quite a few, usually won't idle if they are bad.

Anyone know if the clutch retaining nut is right hand or left hand thread on this 10-10 ??

I need to pull the drum & clean & lube it.

Thanks

Mike

Mike: The threads on the crankshaft depend on the age of the saw. The older ones had a keyed clutch and had right hand threads. The newer ones (probably the one you have) have a left hand threaded nut. If it is left handed, there will be an arrow on the nut, identifying it as such. Rotate clockwise to loosen.
