Does anyone know how to remove/clean oxidized magnesium? I've got an older MAC saw that is oxidized a little in the oil resovoir and also on the back of the handle and I'm trying to figure out how to clean it (what to use). Any ideas???

Use an etching cleaner for Mag wheels. Check the MSDS for hydrogen fluroide compounds and if it contains some keep that stuff away from plastic and paint.

Swish it around and let it set for a time and rinse with clear water.

Gravel or shot in with the vinegar and agitation works best.

watch the action of the vinegar to gauge how long to let it sit as the PH of vinegars is all over the place.

The benefit of vinegar is finding any small holes in mag tanks so they can be dealy with BEFORE any cosmetic restoration actions

A small amount of the oxide doesn't seem to hurt oilers at all as it doesn't clump together enough to bother oilers

It can clog carb jets and screens though

I see. Well, the oiler piece (manual only of course) is pretty much covered in that crusty funk .. So I'll probably take the tank off and do what you described.
