Hi, I am having problems with my Rayco. Rayco dealer said main pump was bad (hydraulic oil leaking from bottom of machine) - not hose. They said it would be $4300 for a refurbished main pump from Rayco and with labor, I am supposed to pay $7000. Anyone know if I can disconnect it then give it to someone to rebuild/remanufacture it? I am trying to find a way out of $7000. Maybe I can buy a pump from somewhere else and not Rayco?

Sure, any good hydraulic shop should be able to rebuild it for you. I bet it will be cheaper than the Rayco price. A check of the internet should bring up some hydraulic rebuild shops in your area. Call around for some quotes.

That's crazy labor rates, they aren't that bad to work on. How many hours on the machine?

I just wanted to let you guys know my hydraulic shop found they had to replace the seal! It only has 1000 hours and I am so happy and total paid was $1164! (I even told them to charge a little bit extra so I could have it done as soon as possible. Never Trust Dealers!!!

Were they able to determine why the seal went bad? If not, expect to do it again at about the same time interval.

They did notice someone has been in there before to fix something and I mentioned that yes, I had the flywheel replaced last year and Rayco people glued a metal piece to the pump. He told me those parts are not supposed to be glued. Rayco noticed something was leaking and the glued the piece to stop the leak. My mechanic told me when he took that glued piece off, tons of oil spilled out. Rayco just does things wrong.
