This is kinda post "milling" but the best of the final result. This walnut was in my office yard and I got tired of cleaning up the mess every year. Took it down and milled it on my band mill a couple years ago. Have had it stickered and drying in the barn since then. Put it for sale on CL and a guy wanted it, but needed it planed so I agreed to plane it down on my machine. These boards are about 12" wide. Started at 1" but ended up about 1/32 over 3/4". I have made a lot of lumber out of all the smaller pieces and limbs and sold them off, this was the best of the trunk. IMG-20140309-01443.jpg

A few of those boards are pretty nice!

Here's a decent walnut I milled,

A few logs were given to me, for helping the guy cut the rest of the tree up for firewood, here's one of them,

I got some quite nice lumber out of that tree,

Many of the boards were clear,

It's been stacked a while now, I'm sure it's dry enough to bring inside,

You have some nice looking planks there yourself! I did not edge the boards, so many people are doing the rustic look nowadays I left them all live edged. I will cut at least one edge off on a lot more from now on to make it easier to deal with later. I have a nice stack of limbs and short pieces still waiting to be cut. I built some clamps that hold short pieces and allows me to turn them into boards. The hobby and wood workers love to pick up these short pieces cheap and they are nice to salvage.
