The "DCS" in the model number is for Dolmar Chain Saw. DOlmar has a new top handle coming , haven't seen one yet though.

I was cruising Ebay and saw this ad for a Makita Top handled saw. Is Dolmar making these? The last time I looked, dolmar did not offer a top handled saw. anyway, here is the link:

That saw was built for Dolmar by Tanaka. The Dolmar model number was PS-3300TH. This model was discontinued last summer.

Dolmar has the PS-3410TH coming this summer.

Why was it discontinued?

My guess would be the lack of dealer support to support a strictly pro saw. If you don't have dealers, you can't sell saws. of the dealers that sold them, it was probably in a market that could sell to a pro, but all the pro's went to where the pro saws are sold. The other two brands....

They are geting better, but until I find one that is less than 1 1/2 hours from me, and actually stocks saws, I'll stick with my other brands. I like my 5100, though.

Not bashing Dolmar. I like their saws. Just don't like the lack of dealers. Or dealers that won't order a saw to stock it, so a potentional customer can hold and feel the saw before purchasing.

It was discontinued because Dolmar has their own Top Handle coming (PS-3410TH). We sold some of these 3300TH's but it wasn't that strong of a saw.

I know that I'm a rare dealer but I have all the saws in stock (PS-341, 401, 460, 510, 5100s, 540, 6400, 7300, 7900, & 9010). Along with the Cut-Off saws and a few trimmers.

it shows 4 dealers within 20 miles of you and to many for my tired eyes to count within 60 miles of you. Hope it helps.

Hey, Steve, Let me know when the 3410's come in. That looks like a nice saw..even if it is only a puny 34 cc.....34 ci would make for a mighty fast tree saw:blob2:

at 7 lbs, that's 6 oz heavier than the 192t, but with 5 more cc's....could be a nice runner!

Roger,

I have the PS-3400TH's on order and they should be coming in within 3-4 weeks.

Hopefully this saw will be a good runner for its size & weight. I'll post some better pictures of this saw when they come in. Also some feedback from some local customers.

I looked at the IPL....is that a reed valve saw? looks like it might be, and looks very similar to the Echo 3400...
