Makita DCS9000 misfire recoil HELP

We have this jinxed saw in our workshop.
Needed a new ignition coil which we installed but now everytime we come to start it it nearly breaks your fingers by seemingly recoiling due to firing to early.

Any much needed help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Sounds like the timing is too far advanced and the timing is set by the semiconductor circuit in the coil. Any chance you just got the wrong coil for your saw. Happens. A part number search might shed some light.

Do you happen to have a 9010 coil on it, along with the original 9000 flywheel?
I have a feeling that’s what’s going on.

The 9010 coil must be matched with a 9010 flywheel, and the same for the 9000 coil and flywheel. 9000 coils were notorious for going bad and have been NLA for quite some time. The 9010 flywheels are still available, by the way.

I hope you get the saw fixed. It’s a powerhouse. I have both the 9010 and the 9000 myself.

Thanks it seems you were right. Ebay says one thing offical makita supplier says another. Lesson learnt.

A 9010 flywheel should do the trick. The 9010 coil and flywheel are seen as an upgrade as well, as they are limited at a higher rpm. The 9010 coil is not plagued with the same issues the 9000 coil had either.

Coil, flywheel and carb are the only big differences between the 9000 and the 9010.

As long as it’s in good working order the 9000 carb is just fine.

Saw now runs beautifully!.

In other news anybody know anyone interested in a dcs 9000 with upgraded 9010 coil and flywheel??

i have the same problem going on with this saw new coil is not corresponding with flywheel… i seen a used oem dolmar 9010 flywheel and a brand new 9010 ignition from lithuania available on ebay..was wondering if it would work
