I was asked the other day what was the equivalent Stihl or Husky saw to my Makita. This stumped me because on paper it looks like a Stihl 390 or a Husky 362 but having run the Stihl (not the Husky) I would say it runs much stronger than the 390. I have not run a Stihl 440 so I can't say it performs in that class. So what would you say is its closest performer?

None really, as the 6400 is quite heavy for its ccs and power.

But the closest are;

Husky, 365 or 362xp, but they are a bit lighter.

Stihl, MS361, but that one is a lot lighter.

All are within .2 kW power output in the US, and .1 kW here in Europe, but the 6400 is reportedly a bit torquier than the others.

Bringing old models (NLA) into the picture, the Husky 268xp is pretty much the same as the 6400, in both weight and power output.

We have sold the PS6400's against the 365's and 362XP's mostly As well as our older PS6000/PS6800 series. Logging crews that have not sooo responsible help will usually get the 6400's for the abuse and keep the 7900's for themselves. Nice part is the parts interchange if thay crash one all parts cross between the 6400, 7300, and 7900 only difference being the P&C
