Ive seen it a few times too, and it's one of those I just can't watch any more. The way the guys foot/lower calf just dangles you know the break is real messy. Little bit of knowledge sure can be a dangerous thing.

I don't think it was tied off. Can't see that guy going any higher. Vines were his undoing.

It was tied off you can see the rope at :40 thats why it hung in the tree instead of falling.

There was some speculation last year that vines hung the tip up.

Good catch. It actually looks like it is a cargo strap...you can really it starting at about :35 then get another angle at it at :45

I don' think there was a groundie. It looks like the limb was just tied off. Certainly if somebody was on hand he would have shown up in the picture pretty quick after his leg was smashed.
