Half-Hitch v. Marl

Can anyone point out a link or illustrate the difference between the two? I can't find my old Sherrill catalog that has the illustration.

The biggest differance betwixed the two is that the marl will not fall apart if you drop the ends.

many prefer it for bakcing up a bo'lin.

If your rigging a big peice of deadwood, a marl line can hold the load together as it comes down

An easy way to remember the Marline Hitch is that it is a Overhand knot. Then just tie your Running Bowline above it.
