Do any of the members use a Masonry Furnace?

While the building costs may be a little higher, the better efficiency equals less wood consumption.

I am looking into purchasing a unit from Empire Masonry Heaters near Rochester NY, this is a core unit. The costs of custom builds are quite larger.

This heater will be centered in a round house. Looking for thoughts or opinions.

I've never used one but have looked into them and have thought about building one. Looks like they are good performers.

Dave, have you looked into the Core kits? - Unless you build one your self Im thinking its the best option. The labor for a custom build is expensive and the hardware isnt cheap either .

There are a few vendors that offer them. I am not sure where you are located in NY but Empire Masonry is outside of Rochester. I stopped in looked at a running unit and got some literature on the various models.

Pros - Easily installed 1 - 2 days tops, they claim hours. You would still need some basic masonry skills but the units are simply constructed. They look very attractive too.

They carry 7 units range from 3900 - 6900, not including benches or ovens.

You can tie hot water in as well with the addition of extra equipment. The owner is also working on radiant floor heating tied into it as well.
