i'm trying to use this friend of mines massy ferg. to yard some trees out of a ravine. the problem i'm running into is when i push the start button and then release it, the motor continues to turn over and i then have to disconnect the battery to stop it. even when i jumped the the starter by-passing the push button start, i still have to disconnect the battery to stop the starter. it doesn't matter weather or not the key is in "on" or "off" posistion. :monkey:

thanks, Jon

any comments or points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

If it does it when you bypass the push button start as well, I would suspect your solenoid is sticking. I would try changing that out. I've had one do the same thing. You don't ever want your starter to run continuously, because it will burn up fairly quickly.

Check all grounds and make sure the solenoid is wired correctly,be careful those starters are high dollar. good luck.
