I was working on some furnaces today in a construction workshop today and got talking to an older guy fixing the company tools. We got talking and he says he has some a big hemlock and on the ground that he can't get anyone to bring a band mill out because it's on an island up here on the St. Lawrence river. I told him maybe try a chainsaw mill. He'd never heard of one before. I started showing him some pictures of mine and some of the ones here. From the way he was talking when I left him, I think he might go home and try to make one and maybe check AS out. Hope he does.

that's really cool jim. alot of folks, like my former self, don't really ever think of chainsaw milling anything. once you hear about it though, you think: hey, i could do this! then once the saw hits that first slab it's all over. next thing you know you're designing new jigs in your sleep. i wouldn't be surprised if you find out that your buddy has a new hobby. ;) i know i got my coworkers scoping logs for me left and right. :D

Sounds like a very familiar story.

There's only a few other things I get more enjoyment out of than milling and cutting wood, two of them are my two kids (3 and 2) and the other is only offered rarely from my wife... can't have nothin'.:hmm3grin2orange:
