I would like to add a new chain and bar to a McCulloch "1010 Automatic" saw. It has a 16" bar but no chain. The bar looks a little rough so I am thinking about fitting up an 18" bar and good cutting chain. I am not sure what will fit. The saw seems to have the newer floating type sprocket on the clutch hub. The sprocket has 7 teeth. I got this saw for free and until I decide on a brand new saw, I might as well get some use out of this one. It seems to run with no load and the guy who dropped it off tells me it ran great for him. I looked on the Oregon web site but wasn't sure what I needed. Anything I can find out about this saw would be great. Fuel-oil mixture, engine size, proper plug, and bar and chain. The model number from the tag is 600007, serial number 1215737. Thanks.

Is it a left handed saw?...I'm not sure what size those things were, but they ran well...I'd say 50:1 on the mixture, but not sure about the plug...Better yet....Just junk it..I'll give ya' fifty bucks for it:D

McCulloch 1010 question

I have 3 or 4 10-10's and use 40-1 only. Premuim gas and brand name oil. There is a website acresinternet.com that has all the information you need. Sorry I do not know how to put a link to it on here. someone will come along shortly that does. Tom

I used to have two of these saws, they were nice. As far as i know these are 3.3 cubic inch or 54cc saws, i'll agree on the 50:1 mix, and if the bar is worn out, there are some decent aftermarket bars for these saws out there, check into online auctions for one, i have even seen some NOS bars for these. I would recommend a bar 16-20 inches, but i did have a 24 inch bar for mine and it pulled it ok, haha i even heard of some people putting 28 inchers on these, but i would definately not recommend it. As far as a spark plug, i can't remember exactly what is recommended, but i think i had a wsr6f in mine, which is what is used in most stihls, worked fine for me. When you try to match up bars to these saws, be sure that the oiler holes in the bar meet where the oil comes out of the saw, i ran into a problem with this and i ended up drilling some special holes in my bar to occomidate this saw, even though the seller claimed that the bar would match perfectly. Keep in mind that you can even turn the bar and chain tensioner finger upside down to help match a bar.

McCulloch 1010 question

I looked on acres site and the recomended ratio runs from 20-1 to 40-1 for the different models. My primanry McCulloch is a Pro mac 10-10 s (57cc's). The older saws are 54 cc"s I have about twenty-five saws (all makes and models). All of them are older saws. The one mentioned above Is the latest model that I have so I use 40-1 in all of them. Tom

The 10-10 had about the longest production run of any saw ever made .They were still being made when McCulloch went out of business.

There are basically two sizes of bar mounts for Mac saws. The reed valve, such as 250,SP 125 Supper 44 etc take one size .The 10 series ,700,850 ,605/610 ,sp 80/81 ,take another.

I have a half dozen 10-10s in both left and right hand start,54 cc and 57 cc models,in points type plus solid state ignitions. You can still get the bars.A 16" or 20" is a good size for this saw.I run 32 to 1 mix but 40 to 1 should work well also.

the great 10-10

Your gonna love this saw. If its a 10-10 auto its right hand start. The left hand starts were 10-10 lightweights. I run all my saws at 40 to 1. I run a 16 inch bar on mine. Its a great firewood saw. If you call baileys, a sponsor here , they have bars listed for these saws in their catalog. I agree that 20 inch is the max bar length for this saw. Tried a 24 , not so good. Tried a 28, forget it.
I've got a pile of good running saws, and when its firewood time, my 10-10 is the one I use the most.

It's a right hand start. Tried to start it today but it wouldn't even sputter. Then I found what looks like a broken plug wire with lots of electrical tape on it. I'll get deeper into it this week in my spare time. Thanks for the link Tzed. That looks like mine except for the starter on the other side.
