What can you all tell me about a mac double eagle 80 ??

I did find it on Mike's site

I have a chance to pick one up tommorow (with 2 other small saws) for $35 for all 3 (other 2 are a remington & a crapsman)

Seller knows nothing about it.

If its a junker, is it worth it for parts ??

Thanks

Mike

Sorry, should have read the thread more closely. I am only interested in large remington. Thanks Tom

Thanks ray (actually, I did find it)

I called the guy & asked him if it turned over/was not siezed & he did not know.........

I have to drive about 45 miles to go look at it.

I will be in the area, so I guess its no big deal.

I'd say the McCulloch is easily worth that amount in parts, even if will never be a runner. They are a big bore saw and don't turn up very often.

Well here it is. Dirty as hell

Stale gas in tank (real bad) fuel lines rotted.

Recoil needs work, turns over, seems to have good comp & has spark.

Handlebar is a little loose, seems to have rubber mounts that look & feel as if they have sen better days.

Im going to take it to work this week & give it a bath in the parts washer.

double eagle

this looks like the 800 805 or850 might just be a name change.

My goodness, looks like an sxl925 and super EZ.

Never heard of an 82cc saw referred to as small before.
I'd give you more for that sxl9xx than you paid for all of it.

When you think about it Mike, the stinkiest rottenest gummied-uppedest fuel line gets replaced about the same way as a never used dry-rotted one even if it smells like lilac.

You did fantastic! Congrats!

I just luv the 805 / 800/ 8200 models these have plenty of grunt and were the largest of Mac's lightweight falling saws and at 82cc they proformed great. I have a couple here in my collection of Mac's to remind of the time when i used to sell them. Out here in Australia they were used for cutting pit props for the mines and i sold heaps of them.

Mc Bob.

Well I finally got this old mac up & running tonight.

Been working on it all year, a little bit here & there.

I was pleasantly surprised. Did a few cuts with it & she really gets with it.

I think this will give my SXl 925 a run. I was gong to sell it, but I think its a keeper now.
