Hi just wondering if it is worth purchasing one of these saws, in fair condition for $30 AUS?
Does anybody know the hp and top RPM of these saws and if they are easy to find parts for?
thanks.

By the way, I am looking to put one of these engines on a go kart, just in case ya' wanted to know ;)

Cool old saw... I had a really pretty one, but once it was running, I lost interest and sold it for $50. Collectible, but I wouldn't use it as a working saw. If it's in decent condition, get it and store it. It was advertised as Mac's "first" consumer saw, so that has to be worth something.

As for a go-kart engine.. surely you can find something a bit later....? ;)

Thanks for your help. The reason why I am interested with this engine is because someone told me that they are similar to the old kart engines mcculloch used to make, so I thought one might be fit for the job. I dont know if this is true though. What chainsaw engine would you guys recommend that is high revving but not too expensive?

THANKS.

The Mac 15 is no performance engine in any shape it has a fixed cylinder head for starters and only 2 exhaust openings as one was intentionally left closed plus it had cast iron rings. The Mac 15 was built for the early consumer market and as such was a very basic saw of 80cc and not very high reving.

Mc Bob.
