I picked-up a McCulloch Pro Mac 610 today for $75. The body is in mint condition and it has an 18 inch McCulloch bar on it.

My question is - is the spark plug a DJ8, a DJ6, a DJ6J or something else?

Also, the trigger lock is broken. It looks like a pin holds it into place. Anyone had to replace the trigger lock on their 610?

Lastly, how can you figure out the date of manufacture for the saw? Can you gleen that from the serial number or model number?

My first chainsaw way back was a PM610 an Uncle gave me which parted our house in a ill advised yard sale! I'm glad to have another one in my fleet.

Thanks!
Bill

O.K., nobody else bit, so here goes.

The recommended spark plug for the PM 610 is an AC45T or a Champion RDJ6, at least that's what the book says. My spark plug conversion table doesn't even list a AC45T. I'll go upstairs and see what the PM 610 that is burried has in it for a plug. I think if you put a Champion DJ6J you'll be O.K., could be wrong, somebody will tell me and thats O.K also.

Some other plugs;

Autolite 2954
Bosch HS5E
NGK BM7F

The trigger locks are prone to fail on these McCulloch saws. I've seen a couple over the years and the majority had broken trigger locks.

The oilers are the weak point on these saws. The manuals are fairly good, but the automatics are a pain in the :bang:. If you can find an oiler keep it as a spare.

Built like a tank, ugly as sin, good saws.
Hope you have good luck with it.

Jerry
