I am an occasional chain saw user and have had a Pro Mac 10-10 16" that is approximately 25 years old. It doesn't have more than an ounce or two of plastic in it, it's been pinched and slightly crushed over the years but it keeps going. Does anyone know what the cubic inch displacement is on that one? I would like to get similar power if and when I replace it.
Any idea on where to get a replacement muffler for it, as it came off long ago?
I have seen a new MucCulloch Pro Mac 10-10S model on ebay for $750 and it was 3.5 cu in displacement. Didn't know you could get a new McCulloch. Does anyone know of the difference between the 10-10 and the 10-10S?
I'm a newbee here....so bear with me.... and glad to find this website

The Ebay seller with the $750 10-10 is, im my opinion, fishing for a sucker. The 10-10 eventually was the culmaination of a saw design from the early 1960's..I think there was a 1-10, I've seen 2-10, 6-10, and I'm assuming there were a few more between.

God enough saws in their day, but even by the end of the '60's they were not state of the art. Problems I had with ;em were they were heavy for their power and no anti-vibe.

Husky 359/Jonsered2159, or Stihl 036 are just a tad more displacement and would cut wood like they were on fire compared to the old 10-10. close to 2# lighter to boot. A modern 50cc saw would probably come darn close to the 10-10 on the first tank of gas of the day, and by the end of the day when the McC guy's arms feel like dead meat, the modern saw would still be humming a happy tune.

I have a brand new, never started, never touched wood, 10-10 that I will sell you for half that price if you really want one. I still have the original box to go along with it, just a little shelf worn.

I bought it to add to my collection, and I am whittling that down considerabley.

Make me an offer!

10 seies McCulloch

The 10 series McCulloch's,in my opinion, were the transition from the big reed valve engines,to the piston ported type. The 10-10,in all of it's models, with the exception of the 10-10s,was 3.3 cu in.The 10-10s was 3.5 cu. in.The 1-10,2-10,3-10,and 10-10,were all 3.3 cu. in.The 4-10,5-10,6-10 and 7-10, were 4.3 cu in.All were left hand start, with the exception of the Pro 10-10s and the 7-10.Most were points type ignition, some were cd type.It has been, and still is my opinion, that if McCulloch would have done further development of this series,Mac. would still be "king of the woods",this did not happen. In regards to OLd "just david 99",on E-bay,with his high price on these saws, keep in mind that he has tried to sell these saws for about 2 years at these price,or he has a warehouse full of them:p

I have been considering a saw like this. I also noticed Daves Emporium on eBay has a lot of high priced goodies. I have been tempted to bid on a few of his items but when the starting price for a 306A part is more than a used running 306A I can't bring myself to buy.
