Hey all. I've been looking around this site for some time while getting my stove install done at the camp. Over the weekend I finally got to setting the stove and running the class "a" chimney pipe. I used metalbestos 8" class "a" through the ceiling and out the roof. The one question I had was about the finished ceiling support. The ceiling support has a recess for the chimney pipe to slide into. The dripless adapter locks in the last section of chimney pipe and slids through the ceiling support. Sorry if this doesn't make sense yet. The issue I have is that there is supposed to be a band clamp from the class a pipe to the dripless adapter. When you slide the pipe and adapter into the ceiling support the band clamp wont clear. I ended up removing the band clamp. The thought being that the weight of the class a pipe above wouldn't allow the dripless adapter to move or come out anyway. The dripless adapter is twist locked in. I think it will be fine but just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

Thanks

My dad has 6" pipe that twist locks together and doesn't have the bands on any of the joints. He claims to never having seen the clamps till I was installing my stove.

I rarely have anyone install the banding. On the dripless adapter in the ceiling adapter it sure wont be coming off anyway.
