:hmm3grin2orange: I finally could not wait anymore. Still waiting on that 28" bar and decided to try a full chisel chain on my 20" bar. Cut great!! Freehanded a few short slabs that started out an inch thick and ended about an inch and a half, but fairly square on the ends. I'm telling you guys they felt like a wash board but I am hooked. They felt like a wash board because I need to practice.

Did it look like this?

I know what you mean. The cabin fever is getting pretty bad around here. I'm looking forward to spending some time in the woods when road conditions improve.

Ah...ya...we don't have much snow this year but things are still frozen. I tried to get onto a property on the weekend since I'm sure I could get around on it. The gate was so frozen into the ground I gave up chopping it out. Geez.

Only 6" of snow left here but probably more at 5000 feet where I have been getting wood. Then when the snow melts, the dirt logging roads turn to grease. It could be quite a while yet before the roads are decent.

When you post a message, Underneath the text entry box is a section called Additional Tools - under that section you will find manage attachments - click on that and follow your nose.
C'mon it's more complicated than that, especially if you want the pics to show in the thread.
The key is to after you go to manage attachments and upload the attachment you right click and save the link location. It will look something like: http://www.arboristsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=125775&stc=1&d=1266493898

Then click on the 5th icon from the right, in the box just above where you enter text, insert image, and paste the link in there.

/edit - first get a picture in the right digital format and size:)

Our snow all melted in 2 days...followed by a deep freeze around my home area, the rivers blew the banks. Makes for great skating but everything is covered in ice rather than snow..makes it hard to get anywhere off road. Spring will be slippery as the frost is so deep. Not enough snow to scout by sled...yet I can't even get my truck through the gates onto the private property..:censored: (with permission of course).
I've never wintered anywhere with altitude changes. Must put a whole new twist on things (saw prep...clothes etc). Higher is whole other climate.

That's why I just use photobucket.com. MUCH easier than going through all that, you don't have to re-size your pictures, and you can use the same picture elsewhere on the net without having to upload again.

Sure, but this leads to other longer term problems, such as when an individuals photobucket account goes belly up so do their pics. The forum owners could also turn off external linking at any time so the links could vanish overnight.

There was a guy that posted in the milling forum called Railomatic. He was a serious CS mill innovator and he had a lot to offer but he mainly used Photobucket. Last year he vanished, as did his detailed website and his photobucket account, and now only about 1 in 10 of his very informative post still have their pics. I recommend members do not just use photobucket but to post their pics within the site so there is a better chance the info stays intact.

I make very similar posts on another site and it would be easier for me to just point to one photo account but I still upload to boat site. Mind you the other does permit the simultaneous upload of 10 pics at one time making it a bit easier.

More than once, when doing searches, I've run into what BobL is talking about. A very interesting post but the photos are long gone.

I still have active picture links on photobucket from many, many years ago. I never move or delete pictures.

I have gotten to the part about the uploading, but I can not seem to get file size small enough to upload, any suggestions?

Jimdad07, I think your files have to be smaller than 300 kb. Also, I suggest making them 800 pixels wide, though that is not a site requirement.

You will need a photo editor or graphics editor. There is probably already one installed on your PC, if not, you can download one for free. some free graphic editors

I load the photo into the editor, "crop" the part I want to keep, "scale" whats left so that it is 800 pixels wide, and then "save" it. The save dialog lets me choose a level of "optimization" which compressed the file. I choose 50%. The picture should now be well under 300 kb.
