Well, I got the Dan Henry ported 346XP, and tried it out. Yes, it was a little faster than my Solo 651, about 20% or so, but it was also much louder! Conclusion: Millerized 651 was still too choked down. Action: Open up exhaust more. Result: Still not as loud as 346, but also nearly as fast, like only lagging by 5-10% now. I suppose I could open exhaust a little more, but I almost think the solo could pull one more tooth on the sprocket. I can't kill it down, and I don't dare take rakers down any more. Hmmm, where to go next?

Tony,
Glad you got the saw and all. I am sure you will enjoy it.
It runs pretty good. That saw is not even broke in yet. You should see more power the more you run it. Its only had about 1-2 tanks of fuel through it.

Hunter,

Yes, I will/would enjoy it, if I keep it. Too many saws and some got to go. I'm not sure yet which is which. I have some good homes lined up for them, I think, which ever ones go. I've been wanting to try one of Dan's 346's, so to get a slightly used one was ideal. I can cut with it a little, and still sell it for little if any loss. I also can let prospective buyers use the saw without fear of it no longer being brand new.

Put an 8 pin .325 drive rim on the 651. Wow! I'm looking forward to cutting some tops now. The saw seems to pull it fine. Too bad I can't run the 346 in one hand and the 651 in the other. Now that could get interesting, and dangerous.

I do like the feel of the 346. It feels like a toy, size wise. I don't think it would cut with a stock 372 by any means. Probably real close to the 036 Pro I had or the stock Echo CS-670. Probably in the mid 4's for horsepower. Of course, It'll break in yet as you say, and I may be pleasantly surprised.

Well, I got a little more practice on porting, as I ended up with another 651 for parts. I discovered I raised the transfers too far on the first attempt. Second attempt is a definite improvement. I'm running neck and neck with one of Dozer Dan's 346's. I just ran a tank through each saw cutting a large wild cherry tree. It was a blast. Where I wouldn't have thought of making a cut with a 50cc saw when I have a 372 lying around, I just ate through that cherry with either saws. I don't think they're as fast as a 372, but they're not far behind, and a whole lot easier on the back. I never thought I'd go into the woods and not even grab my big saws. A guy could make a lot of firewood with either saw in a big hurry, and not get too tired in the process. Problem now is I already have enough wood cut to split and haul for a while, but I'd rather cut:D
