Did a big elm removal today and kept the barrel to mill back at the yard, log is 4m long and approx 1200mm diameter and dead straight.
Most of my milling is in Aussie hardwoods, anything to be aware off with elm before I start other than the usual.
 
I don't know if your Elm is the same as American Elm. My dad had a large one milled several years ago and it now lines the walls of my workshop. Nothing special was done other than make sure it's stickered well. Very nice wood to work with but I had to pre-drill to drive nails through it.
 
That's a wide log, almost 4 foot across. What kind of mill and how long is your bar?
 
Pics or it didn't happen. Haha just kidding would love to see pics of such a large, straight trunk though.
